NOVEL CHALCONE SYNTHASE-LIKE GENES AND PROTEINS

Base sequences of novel chalcone synthase-like genes, which are usable in breeding hop and as gene markers, and amino acid sequences of proteins encoded by these genes are clarified. Thus, proteins having the amino acid sequences represented by SEQ ID NOS:1 and 4 and variants thereof, and nucleic acids having the base sequences represented by SEQ ID NOS:2 and 5 and variants thereof are obtained. As a result, it becomes possible to provide the chalcone synthase-like genes or proteins encoded thereby as described above, and data thereof including the functions of the proteins.
