Systems and methods for generating multi-dimensional navigation solutions use satellite positioning systems (GPS) to achieve highly reliable and accurate navigation solutions in highly insensitive and dynamic environments with levels of performance not available until now. Additional sensors such as inertial sensors (gyros and accelerometers), altimeters, radars, etc. can be used for high concentration structures. The approach taken in the present invention differs from the prior art through the development of a nonlinear filtering method. Thus, the navigation system and method of the present invention result in a significant improvement in navigation system performance in code tracking and reacquisition and carrier tracking and reacquisition. This improvement is particularly noticeable at low signal / noise ratios, while the conventional approach is particularly sensitive to loss of code lock or carrier lock.
