The present invention relates to a long polynomial division algorithm in a finite field and a hardware architecture thereof, in particular, multiplication between finite field symbols by parallel processing in group units based on a lookahead technique and partial division. This eliminates the need for this and provides a long polynomial divider in a finite field to provide a much larger number of throughputs per unit time than conventional methods, resulting in an improved speed of several orders of magnitude. Delay products are very low and can be used in situations where high or low power consumption or both are required.
