PURPOSE: A method for preventing the oxidation of the back side of a magnesia-carbon refractory brick is provided, to improve the lifetime of the magnesia-carbon refractory brick by employing a MgO-SiC-C refractory material to the back side of the magnesia-carbon refractory brick. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of giving the pressure to a MgO-SiC-C refractory material with a pressure of 50-200 kg/cm2 to form it primarily and adding a magnesia-carbon refractory material to one side of the formed one and forming it secondly, wherein the thickness ratio of the part of the magnesia-carbon refractory material and the part of the MgO-SiC-C refractory material is 5:1 to 7:1. Preferably the MgO-SiC-C refractory material comprises 70-85 wt% of MgO, 5-10 wt% of SiC and 10-20 wt% of C.
