The present invention relates to a novel protein and its subfragments, multimers or variants thereof, represented by Rib, which provide protective immunity against infection of many Group B Streptococcus strains, especially those with serotype III.;The present invention includes a method for purifying the protein, a method for producing a very specific antibody, a reagent kit, a BNA sequence encoding the protein, a pharmaceutical composition containing the protein or fragments or variants thereof.
