The invention is based on the idea of first producing a test specimen with a predetermined homogeneous biofilm loading. Then the loading of the specimen with biofilm is assigned a loading reference value using a chemical detection method. The same detection method is used to determine a load value for a second sample body with an unknown biofilm load. A comparison of the loading value of the second sample body with the reference value of the first sample body enables a quantification of the biofilm loading of the second sample body.
