The device has a box with two parts of identical dimensions joined by hinges that form a surface when folded open to support the photometer during measurement. One part of the box contains ceramic parts with non-fading colors. The ceramic tiles are produced in the slightly saturated range of color space to give more accurate measurements and their colors are chosen to cover the color space by containing green, blue, red and intermediate shades.
