At the loom for weaving terry fabrics, the band of pile warp yarns (15) is led over a deflection (26) to form a pile warp reserve in front of the intersection point with the band of ground warps (1), in the direction of travel. The terry fabric loom has a deflector (22) for the pile warps at the opposite side of the ground warps to the pile warp feed (16,17), as at least one rotating deflection linkage rod with a number of support mountings across the loom width, with spring pliability and adjustment. The band of pile warps form an obtuse angle (29) with the ground warps where they intersect, in the direction of travel. Or they can meet at an acute angle The bands of pile warps and ground warps have separate warp monitors (18,30) on separate planes, accessible freely from the side of the loom. At least the pile warp monitor is on a horizontal plane (34). The pile warp reserve length is formed by at least one sprung deflection shaft or deflection plate.
