The plate (15) carrying the backup rolls (20,21) is fitted with a slide (12) which moves to and from the workpiece (23) off a drive whose axis lies in the plane of symmetry (X) of the machine frame (1-4). The plate (15) runs parallel to head (6) and bottom plates (5) off piston and cylinder units (16,17) mounted in the foot plate (5). The slide (12) connects to piston and cylinder units (13,14) and the piston (13) in the axis of symmetry (X) and the cylinder mounted on the foot plate (5). The plate (9) carrying the outer tool (26) is either fixed or rides parallel to plates (5,6 and 15). Plate (9) is equipped with a piston and cylinder unit (7,8) whose axial piston (7) lies in axis (X) as against the cylinder (8) which is mounted on the top plate (6). The top plate (6) adjusts in height in the machine frame (1-4) and the slide (12) is fitted with a measuring system taking the diameter of the workpiece.
