A tape scale (2) is bonded to the tree (1) for measuring its cross-sectional contour. Electronic sensors mounted on a load bearing construction fastened to the ground near the tree, measures the changes in stem cross-section and stem deflection with respect to wind speed and direction. The modulus of elasticity, moment of inertia and wind pressure are detected based on stem deflection. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) Static and dynamic uprooting test device for trees; (b) Method for estimating modulus of elasticity and moment of inertia for stability diagnosis of trees
