The device performs a comparison involving processing a signal correlated to the engine revolution rate, a signal correlated with the revolution rate of a generator driven by the engine via a drive element and a constant correlated with the ratio of the engine revolution rate and generator revolution rate signals for slip-free operation of the drive element. An Independent claim is also included for a comparison method for use in a vehicle.
