Magnetic storage device consists of a ferromagnetic layer (FM) and an antiferromagnetic layer (AFM). The ferromagnetic layer is made of ferromagnetically ordered particles arranged in an antiferromagnetically ordered substrate. The ferromagnetically ordered particles are spaced so that no opposing magnetic influence is produced and the magnetic moments of the substrate deviate minimally from their equilibrium direction. A higher energy barrier of the ferromagnetic particles is achieved by the magnetic exchange as a consequence of the magnetic boundary layer coupling between the ferromagnetic particles and the substrate. Preferred Features: The value of the magnetic boundary layer coupling is adjusted by suitable material for the ferromagnetic material and for the antiferromagnetic material in determined boundaries.
