The remote control (E) has a ten-key alphanumeric keypad (E2) using channel numbers selected in one mode and abbreviated letters of the name of a specific channel are selected in another mode. A pop-up list is displayed on the receiver screen during selection of the channel. An Independent claim is also included for program selection arrangement.
