A unit (6) for direct or indirect determination of either the density of the pressurized fluid or a density dependent physical value acts in conjunction with a sensor(7) for determining the fluid pressure. A control unit (8) uses the measured values to calculate the density of the fluid under standard conditions on the basis of a known dependency of the fluid density or density dependent value on the external pressure. Independent claims are made for: a) a unit for measuring the gas content in a fluid which incorporates the claimed density measuring unit(6) and equipment for calculating the gas content on the basis of the determined density of the fluid and measured pressure; b) a gas charging control unit incorporating the gas content measuring unit for charging the fluid with gas according to a deviation of the measured gas charge from a set value; c) a process for density determination of a gas charged fluid, in particular a plastic compound, in which the pressure and density of the pressurized fluid is determined and from this the density under standard conditions can be calculated.
