Modulator control method involves generating regulation signal for setting operating area by selecting signal component whose frequency is determined by the deflection frequencies of the operation point and the operation area
The method involves generating a modulated output emission from an input emission (114) in dependency of a control signal. The operation point (AP) and the operation area (AB) of the modulator are dependent on the mean value and the amplitude of the control signal, respectively. The periodic deflections of the operation point and of the operation area are forced by deflection frequencies (f1,f2), respectively. A regulation signal (110) is generated in dependency of the deflections and causes the adjustment of the operation point and the operation area. The mean value or the amplitude of the control signal is set when regulating the operation point or the operation area, respectively. An Independent claim is also included for a control unit for the modulator.
