The flowmeter has a channel (2) in which a sensor element (3) is arranged. In a region upstream of the sensor element, the flowmeter is designed so that the flow vortices produced by this region act on the sensor element, to an extent that is dependent on the pulsation degree of the flow. The channel may have an outward extension (7) in the region.
