A leakage monitoring unit, especially for fuel driven, stationary units, comprises a catchment vessel (10) for the leaked fluid (11), which is connected to the incoming section (8) of a drainage pipe (2). The vessel acts as an overflow container, and a liquid sensor (16) signals the build up of leakage fluid in the vessel. The catchment vessel is in the form of a downward sloping branch pipe.
