The method involves evaluating the induced electrical voltage Uo, which is provided orthogonally to the flow speed v and the induction B direction of a magnetic field. An electrically isolating measurement pipe (2,2), which is flown through by the medium, has electrodes (5,5) in the pipe wall for the capacitive decoupling of the induced voltage. Electrodes (4,4) at the inside wall are used for influencing the charge of the effective capacities. A permanent magnet is also provided whose magnetic field penetrates the measurement pipe.
