The instrument for a local scraping of the aortic valve, in a human or animal heart, is a hollow catheter to be inserted into the aorta artery and is flexible at least at the far end. The far end carries a cutter, which has a fluid-tight closure cap (5) with at least one opening (6) defined by a cutting edge (7). A cutting tool (8) has a linear or rotating movement within the cap, with a cutting edge (10) moving against the cap cutting edge. The zone (11) around the cutting tool is linked towards the near end of the catheter. The zone (12) at the far side of the cutting tool is enclosed by it and the closure cap, and it is filled with a gas or fluid and/or a mechanical expansion system as the drive for the cutting tool. The cutting tool is of a ceramic or light metal alloy material.
