Plate mold comprises mold plates (4,4',5,5') cooled by water tanks (1,1',2,2') and having a hollow chamber (3). The plate pairs (4,4') and (5,5') are joined together at the corner joints and are held together by the water tanks. The water tanks are connected by tensioning elements (7,7') arranged over the corners. Preferred Features: Spring packets (11) are placed on the tensioning elements to compensate for heat expansion of the mold plates.
