Cleaning device for the inking machinery of a printer with a rotating print cylinder (4) and a wiper device for wiping ink of the cylinder and a capture device for the wiped off ink. The cylinder cleaning device is a driven helical coil (2) that has a different rotating velocity to the cylinder. The helical coil is enclosed by a housing (3) that has a partial opening in the area adjacent to the cylinder. The coil of the helical coil is a rubber lip that acts to remove excess ink from the printer cylinder. The cleaning helical coil can be used in conjunction with jets for spraying cleaning solution onto the printer cylinder.
