The ski or snowboard binding element (3,4,5) rides a ski or board fitted guide rail (2) and is held positively across the rail and is bolted positively to this in set positions by means of a bolt pin homing into an element socket which registers with part of the rail covered by the binding element in the bolting position. The rail has heel and toe bootholders (4,5) joined to the rail by connectors (6) adjusting in spacing length to suit user. Connecting is preferably performed by self-locking threaded spindles (6) using a handle (19) for adjustment.
