The bearing pedestal (4) has a bearing section (7) with a sleeve-shaped bearing eye (5) and a mounting section (6) bonded to the bearing section, for fitting to a carrier structure. The bearing pedestal is in one piece, from a shaped plate section, with two opposing legs (8) to form the bearing and eye sections. The bearing pedestal has a U-shaped profile, where the mounting section bonds the two legs. The plate section is shaped in a single deep drawing stage, to give two sleeves (12) to form the bearing eye. The two sleeves are aligned to each other in a further stage.
