The invention relates to a method for retrofitting an existing steam system having at least one steam producing device (14) and at least one steam consumer (18). According to the invention, a simple and versatile retrofitting is accomplished by retrofitting a gas turbine system (1) whose exhaust gas (6) is used in a waste heat boiler (7) for producing steam. Said waste heat boiler (7) is provided with an additional furnace (44) that enables the steam parameters of the waste heat boiler (7) to be adapted to the parameters in the steam system.
