The cooker hood also has a smoke and fire detector (4), or a temperature feeler, with adjustable reaction sensitivity, and an extinguishing device (7). This has a regulating valve (5), which is opened in case of fire, and closed, by the detector or the temperature feeler. The extinguishing material is carbon dioxide or similar, which does not leave a residue on the cooker hob. The hood has a control system, which switches off the blower (10) during the fire, and switches it on again afterwards, to extract the fumes.
