The axle pin (7) of the steering fork is fastened to an additional upper crosspiece (6) parallel to the fork crosspiece (3). A damping device (5) is located between the upper crosspiece and fork crosspiece, and by means of a pivot pin (4) lying parallel between the respective crosspieces and parallel to the wheel axle (1) enables a limited rotational movement of the fork legs (2). The damping device is a four-sided block of elastic material, or may be a preformed part of metal or plastic.
