An optical aid for use in medical intubations. An optical device comprising an illumination device and a video chip are inserted inside the intubation tube, so that images can be displayed on a small screen positioned in a suitable position, e.g. on the doctor's hand or on the patient. After correct positioning of the tube the illuminator and video chip are removed.
