The rudder is for use by a steering person looking forward in the direction of travel. It has two parts, with inner (6) and outer (7) arms and is movable on two planes. On the radial surfaces of an elbow joint with two joint parts (1,2) two crossing flat pulleys (3,4) roll, thereby reversing the lever movements. The inner and outer arms are firmly connected with a joint part (8). By pressing the inner arm forwards and drawing it backwards, through the force transmission of the flat pulleys also the outer arm is moved in the same direction. A rocker joint (11) running parallel to the boat central axis guarantees the vertical rudder movements is not fitted centrally under the changeover mechanism, but on each side, a few centimeters outwards.
