The exhaled breath (1) of the contaminated person is fed via exchangeable mouthpiece (4) into a detector designed to detect tuberculosis-specific molecules and cell fragments. Water vapor is used to condense the breath particles and the system is checked out and calibrated by laser spectroscopy (6), itself checked for detection quality. Bacterial micro-organism pyrolysis precedes the ionization stage and ion-drift sensor (7) serves for detection purposes.
