The passenger warning device is coupled to a sensing system within the passenger compartment, for providing a passenger with a warning indication via a warning device, in dependence on sensing system signals indicating an out-of-position situation of the passenger. The warning indication is provided when the out-of-position indication is provided continuously over a defined time interval.
