A method of testing measurement systems involves initially (a) determining at least one property (10) of a number of objects (12) and (b) sorting the objects (12) on the basis of the detected properties (10) into classes (14) to give a measurement result (16). The steps (a) and (b) are then repeated n-times for the objects (12) in the classes (14) of the respective preceding n-th measurement result to a (n+1)-th measurement result, with n=1 or 2 . The measurement system is (d) tested by evaluating the measurement result (16) with regard to scaling and measurement accuracy of the measurement system being tested by means of statistical approximation for the likelihood of variants and/or their properties (22).
