The false twisting machine, to give a drawing and texturizing action on thermoplastic filaments, has a feed roller (19.1) with a smooth surface around its circumference. A free-running roller (20.1) is at a gap from the smooth surface of the feed roller, so that the filaments pass around both rollers with at least two coils. The incoming filament guide (5) is directly in front of the feed roller, in the direction of filament travel. The false twisting machine has a filament guide (10) directly after the feed roller. The feed roller has a radially projecting collar at the incoming side of the smooth surface, to define the leading end. The incoming filament guide, the feed roller and the free-running roller are at an exchangeable carrier, mounted at the machine frame. The carrier has a plate shape, with an electromotor on the opposite side of the plate to the roller, with its motor shaft extending through the carrier A carrier also supports a second feed roller (19.2) after the false twister (9), together with a free-running roller (20.2). An eddy jet is between the feed rollers. The feed roller station is a feed assembly (6), to draw the filaments (21) from the supply bobbin (1). Both feed rollers have their electromotors controlled by a group inverter, or they are controlled separately and independently of each other. The electromotor is a synchronous motor. The running roller can be replaced by a non-rotating rod guide, and the running roller can be powered by an electromotor.
