The engine (1) has a device for induction and ejection of air in a defined period between a second half of a second expansion stroke and a first half of a following first compression stroke, a controller (60) for controlling fuel injection to at least one combustion chamber (5) and a controller (60) for performing a control operation to inject fuel in a compression stroke and in the first expansion stroke or the second expansion stroke.
