An antiseptic composition containing a combination of chlorobutanol and chlorhexidine or a salt thereof, wherein the chlorobutanol is at a concentration of at least around 0.2 % m/V, the chlorhexidine or salt thereof is at a concentration of 0.0005-0.01 % m/V, and the weight ratio of chlorobutanol to chlorhexidine or the salt thereof is of 8-1000.
