Separator for alkaline accumulator comprises two superposed fibrous layers; the first, a 'spun-bond' layer acting as support; and the second is obtained by knitting together fibers of the first layer which are then interlaced with its own fibers. Spiral accumulator with alkaline electrolyte, notably of the Nickel-Cadmium or Nickel-Metal hydride-type, comprises at least a positive and negative electrode placed either side of a separator. The two separator layers are bonded together.
