METHOD FOR ANALYZING THE PHYLETIC LINE OF SAINT-JACQUES SHELLS

A method for analyzing the scallop phyletic line is proposed, comprising the steps of sequencing mitochondrial DNA from the scallop to determine a nucleotide base sequence of mitochondrial DNA, the nucleotide base sequence comprising a non-coding region containing a nucleotide base substitution site having a sequence polymorphism indicative of a particular line of the scallop. The mitochondrial DNA of the scallop is amplified by PCR, using an appropriate primer set designed according to the nucleotide base sequences conserved among the 16S rRNA and 12S rRNA mitochondrial mitochondrial genes known, then it is sequenced to determine a non-coding region. In this non-coding region is located a nucleotide base substitution site, thanks to which a particular line of the scallop is determined.
