Modified polyamides, used to produce articles with good mechanical and appearance properties, are obtained by mixing molten polyamide with macromolecular polyamide with star- or H-shaped macromolecular chains
Modified polyamide is obtained by mixing polyamide, in molten state, with macromolecular polyamide compound containing star- or H-shaped macromolecular chains. Modified polyamide is obtained by mixing in molten state at least (a) a compound (A) consisting of polyamide containing repeating units of formulae (I) or (II); and (b) a compound (B) consisting of macromolecular polyamide with star- or H- shaped macromolecular chains Compound (B) is obtained by either (i) copolymerization of lactame and/or aminoacid with multifunctional compound (C) and optional bi- or mono-functional compounds, or by (ii) mixing of, in molten state, a multifunctional compound (C) and polyamide of the type obtained by polycondensation of lactams and/or aminoacids. The multifunctional compound (C) comprises at least three reactive groups selected from amines, carboxylic acids and their derivatives, with the reactive groups being identical and having molar equivalent concentration in compound (B) of above 4%, (preferably above 8%). Independent claims are also included for: (1) a composition comprising a filler and a matrix consisting of the modified polyamide of the claim; (2) a macromolecular polyamide compound comprising linear or star-shaped macromolecular chains, obtained by copolymerization of lactam and/or aminoacid with multifunctional compounds (C), as described above, and optionally bi- or mono- functional compounds; and (3) use of macromolecular compound as claimed in the polymeric compositions. -(NH-R1-NH- OC-R2-CO)- (I) (NH-R3-CO)- (II) R1, R2, R3 = hydrocarbon radicals optionally containing heteroatoms.
