The bipolar coagulating probe consists of a central axis (2) which has two branches (1) normally constrained parallel to the axis within a catheter (3) which is placed inside a vein (4). When the branches are pushed outside the catheter they move apart to a V shape such that the vein is flattened and the internal wall which is almost emptied of blood is coagulated.
