The portable reader has an enclosure (102), housing the display panel (104), a memory holding data for the display, an electrophotographic unit (200) to form the image displayed to the user, a content handling layer (202) to receive content reproduced by the electrophotographic unit and a source of electric supply comprising a solar panel situated on the enclosure.
