Femoral implant (1) is forged and does not require machine finishing, mainly around neck (2). This forging method ensures the material continuity around neck, between tapered shank (3) and top section (11) so that mechanical strength of neck is increased in its weakest area. Neck has elliptic cross-section so as to also optimize its mechanical strength.
