The switching power supply includes a variable frequency oscillator 21, configured such that its frequency varies in dependence on the output of the full wave rectifying means. An integrating circuit may also be provided to convert a PWM signal into a DC signal, wherein the output of the integrator circuit is connected to supply a control voltage to the oscillator to control its frequency.
