PURPOSE: To obviate formation of more than necessary anodically oxidized films on the rear surface of a printing plate and to eliminate transportation defects on a plate making machine by adjusting the movement of an electrical insulating sheet arranged parallel with an electrode and providing this sheet with holes. ;CONSTITUTION: The band-shaped metallic sheet 1 is admitted into a power feed vessel 3 in which an electrolyte 2 is housed. Electricity of (+) is imposed thereon by the power feed electrode 7 and the metallic sheet is admitted into an electrolytic cell 5. The electrolyte 2 is filled in this electrolytic cell 5. The (-) side electrodes 8a, 8b arranged to face both surfaces of the band-shaped metallic sheet 1 execute the electrolytic treatment of the metallic sheet 1. The electrical insulating sheet 9 is arranged between the rear surface 1b of the metallic sheet 1 and the electrode 8b. The sheet 9 is moved parallel to the arbitrary position in the progressing direction of the metallic sheet 1 and the rear surface 1b is subjected to the electrolytic treatment of an arbitrary thickness.
