PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject stabilizer capable of imparting high hydrolysis resistance to unsaturated polyester resins by bringing a specific carbodiimide compound as a main component. SOLUTION: This hydrolysis stabilizer for unsaturated polyester resins comprises a carbodiimide compound of the formula R1 -NCN-R2 (R1 and R2 are each a lower alkyl, cyclohexyl, phenyl or 2,6-diisopropylphenyl) as a main ingredient. The compound can be obtained, e.g. by bringing cyclohexyl isocyanate to a carbodiimide forming reaction by using a carbodiimide forming catalyst such as 3-methyl-1-phenyl-2-phospholene-1-oxide and a compound of the formula [R3 and R4 are each a 4,4'-dicyclohexylmethane diisocyanate, etc.: (n) is 1-50], etc., are preferable ad main ingradients.
