PURPOSE: To improve the working efficiency of the window display device/ method by preventing such a case where the size of a window WD is changed against the user's will. ;CONSTITUTION: Plural application programs are prepared for display of each WD. The frame sizes of some WDs can be changed and some of these WDs undergo the updating of their display contents in response to change of the frame sizes. In such a system, it is decided whether the frame size can be changed for each program. If the frame size can be changed, a size change corresponding operation storing part 23 stores the corresponding operation to decide whether the display contents are updated in response to the change of the frame size. Then a WD display control part 22 decides the corresponding operation carried out when the frame size is changed based on the contents of the part 23, after a WD display request is received. Then, the part 22 displays an instruction input part for the size change request with only the change of the frame size and then displays the instruction input part for the size change request that causes the updating of the display contents with the frame size change followed by the updating of the display contents respectively.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
