PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a support for recording materials excellent in smoothness and having high gloss by extrusion coating method of melted resin. ;SOLUTION: In this method for producing a support for recording materials, comprising applying a thermoplastic resin 5 extruded by melt extrusion coating method to at least one face of a support such as raw paper 3, the resin is applied to the support such as raw paper 3 by passing the resin and the support through a clearance between a pair of a cooling roll 2 and a press roll 1 set to size not smaller than thickness of the support and smaller than thickness of the support 4 after coating.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
