INTERFERON-gamma PRODUCTION-INDUCING FACTOR (IGIF) IN IMMUNOCOMPETENT CELL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protein as an interferon-production-inducing factor (IGIF) in immunocompetent cell, and to provide applications of the protein. SOLUTION: This new protein inducing the production of IFN- in immunocompetent cell is provided, which has a molecular weight of 19,0005,000 dalton when determined by SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis or gel filtration technique and has an isoelectric point at pH 4.81.0 when determined by chromatographic focusing technique and has a specific amino acid sequence. A method for producing the protein is provided, comprising culturing in a nutrient medium a transformant which is obtained by transferring an immunocompetent cell or, as appropriate, a host with a DNA encoding the protein having each specific physicochemical properties and sequence and a replicable recombinant DNA including an autonomously replicable vector, and collecting the thus produced protein from the cultured product.
