PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for manufacturing an optical fiber collimator for suppressing variance of an irradiation direction, a diffusion state, etc., of parallel light within a specified range and shortening the adjustment time needed to assembly an optical coupler, etc., and one set of optical fiber collimator.;SOLUTION: The method is equipped with a master collimator holding means which holds a master collimator 30 being an optical fiber collimator meeting specified standards as a manufacture standard so that it can freely be positioned, a component holding means which holds manufacture components of the optical fiber collimator 10 so that they can freely be positioned, a measuring means which measures the optical coupling state between an optical fiber collimator assembly obtained by assembling the manufacturing components held by the component holding means and the master collimator 30, a positioning means which determines the relative positions of the master collimator 30 and optical fiber collimator assembly and the relative positions of the respective manufacture components so that the optical coupling state measured by the measuring means becomes maximum, and a joining means which joins the manufacture components positioned by the positioning means together.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
