PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easy and rapid evaluation means of metal silicon, and at the same time to provide metal silicon that is suited for a direct synthesis method, especially Rochow reaction. SOLUTION: A coagulation process for coagulating a melted metal silicon sample under an inactive atmosphere, or the surface state of the metal silicon sample in the judgement method, the metal silicon samples that have been coagulated under the inactive atmosphere and whose surface is occupied by a silicon crystal at least by 20% are judged to be metal silicons that are suited for the synthesis of methylchlorosilane.
