ER calculation method and ER-applying apparatus

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ER calculating method and an ER imparting device small in a cell loss and capable of calculating ER capable of effectively utilizing an output link band without necessitating expense for a hardware. ;SOLUTION: A number of active connections observing means 21 observes the number of active connections and a congestion monitoring means 22 monitors whether an outputting link is in the state of congestion and when the outputting link is in the state of congestion, an ER calculation means 23 decides a value obtained by dividing an ABR band in the output link by the number of the active connections to be ER with respect to all the connections. The addition, an RM cell information reading and writing means 25 writes the calculated ER or PCR of each connection stored in a PCR storing memory 24 in the RM cell of each ABR connection.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
