PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure with high accuracy flare correction data for correcting flare being a pseudo signal caused by the scattering or reflection of incident light to read an original so as to correct read image data with high accuracy. PSOLUTION: A point light source 68 is provided to the read surface of a measurement original 61 which is formed of a diffuse reflection face, a linear imaging element 21 images light reflected on the entire read face receiving the light emitted from the point light source 68, image signal strength distribution data divided into image areas by using a light emission image area of the point light source 68 for a basic unit are generated from a signal outputted from the linear imaging element 21, flare correction data are calculated from the generated image signal strength distribution data and illuminance distribution data of the read face detected by radiating in advance the light of the light source 12 of a read optical system so as to detect the state of flare due to an original face reflection component with a simple configuration.
